casablancas, julian

How do i even begin to explain Julian Casablancas? Some would say, his voice makes you wanna fuck. *nodding*. A very strong sex appeal with the coolest "i don't care what ppl think" attitude, very rockstar-esque. But aside of his gorgeousness and all, let's talk a little something about one of my favorite person on earth.

Born from a wealthy family with a famous daddy and a model mum,
Jules could easily pull hollywood off. But he nonchalantly chose music and until today, he has been successfully making loads of great songs since the first time i heard The Strokes.

His solo works like wow. I thought, when i heard Jules goes solo after The Strokes unofficial hiatus over the fourth album thingy, i thought he wasn't gonna do well, i thought he will probably end up creating the same songs The Strokes' used to play, with a bitter taste because hey, it's missing 4 other members.

I was bursting with curiosity about his new works (apart from the upbeat dancey collaboration with Pharell and Santigold, which i love btw) so i head to his myspace and there it was,
"I'll just nod, I've never been so good at shaking hands/ I live on the frozen surface of a fireball," - 11th dimension.

Umm, it's still an original casablancas' with a touch of new wave and electronic (is that trending these days btw?). Well the spacey throwback is kinda fun, it flew. a mix of 80s synths and trademark Jules' sexy vocal drawl (like a drunk grunge rich kid who doesn't seem to care about anything, although i think he's kinda sober by now.) Well yeah, overall it's not too far from The Strokes. So, KUDOS to Jules.

Anyway, my favorite song from his mini album "Phrazes for The Young" is Words of the Apocalypse. It works so well with his voice, very bluesly. Oh and the lyrics are guhhh-reat! Damn, Jules got a major talent on song writing.

And i've been enjoy listening to his new stuff since 2009 til today.

So there you go, you got gorgeous, talented, grunge, rich newyorker in one hell of a man! But apart of his well-done soloesque, i'm still Team Strokes!!!

say no to plagiarism.

Everyday, millions of photos, videos, songs, notes, quotes, blogs, designs, etc are being uploaded through any kind of social networking sites like facebook, deviant art, myspace, tumblr, twitter -- you name it. And millions eyes are glued everyday for hours in front of the computer.

Internet and its trending social networks obviously have two sides. It is without a doubt making communication, promotion and connection a lot easier, cheaper and practical. But on the other side, it has a huge part of nowadays crime, from fraud, kidnapping, underaged porn, piracy, cyberspace addiction, hate speech, to plagiarism.

Plagiarism in the internet or often in social networks, happens everyday to anyone by anyone. It is probably not as dangerous as fraud or as harmful as kidnapping, but plagiarism disadvantage its victim.

I was a victim a couple of times, and i can do nothing (no actually i really wanna squeeze the hell out of those chicks brain) so i simply private locked some of my sites like facebook for example, the least i could do.

Plagiarism is hard to stop but it can be if there's a clear cyberlaw about plagiarism and the awareness of each internet users to not copy others ideas and works, because plagiarism is also other forms of theft or in my words, stupid fucking copycat.

scream my heart out

Live your life. Laugh more. Cry more. Feel more. Taste more. Try more. Do more. Know more. Scared less. Doubt less. Pray more. Play more. Ask more. Sleep less. Love more. Hate less. Work more. Work less. Think more. Dance more. Hug more. See more. Listen more. Read more.

Dance in the rain
Step on the wet grass barefoot
Smell the earth

Hug your loved ones
Tell them you love them
Tell it everyday

Listen to a music that you love
Even if people say it's lame
Who cares you love it

Make friends
If 'cool people' is boring and fake
Make friends with everyone you're comfortable with

Regret nothing
Enjoy life even when it sucks
Life is way too short

Be more all-out about everything
Don't hold back

Go to the beach
Scream as loud as you can

Look at yourself at the mirror
Say good things about you
You deserve it

Dance like crazy with stupid song
You don't have to be drunk
Just dance, like crazy.

Stop being so perfect
It's fucking boring
Laugh at yourself, it's fun

You're the main star of your own movie called 'your life'
Make it a good one
Start now

Stop searching for money
In the end, it really doesn't matter

Search for happiness
If money is your happiness..
Well then, go find lots of it
whatever works for ya

When you do have money
Spend it on vacation and food
Seriously

Try everything
Don't be afraid to fail
Don't think. Just do it

Take pictures everyday
Make memories

Make a list of things you wanna do before you die
And really do it
Before you die..

Do good things
Do bad things
At your own risk

Be responsible of what you've done
You're not a coward are you?

Act like your age
Enjoy phases of life

Say what you wanna say
scream your heart out
But once again, be responsible.

Leave someone who hurts you
Unless you have a big heart to forgive them

Be curious
Ask a good questions
And find the answers

Have faith in God
Whatever your religion is
This life we have is temporary

Pet something
Talk to them about your dirty little secret
They're a really good listener and very trustworthy

Eat whatever you wanna eat
Exercise more
Be healthy, It's precious

Buy a good quality running shoe
And run
Like forest gump

Do whatever you want at your own risk and responsibility

Life your life to the fullest
Again, life is so short.

splashing colors on a raw canvas

I was always the art geek in my family. From playdohs to paintings, i love making art. And i have no idea why the fuck i wasn't studying at an art school after highschool. Anyway, i've been vacuumed from making art for about 5 years because of works and you know, crazy social life. But i feel like back in the game.

Well, as a start. I sketch. I mostly sketch. These hands just won't stop drawing. I mostly use blank paper and a pencil. Yes as simple as that. I also paint. I mostly use acrylic and canvas. And i also do an embroidery paint, you know, where i drew something on a canvas, pick the embroidery threads colors and get it done with embroidery machine. So much fun. I name my first embroidery painting: Petra. I'll upload the pictures later.

And i've been seeing interesting illustrations from the world wide web for an inspiration. Nick lu's for example. His illustrations are so light, free, simple, and thinkless catchy. I so love his works. I adore! Super cool.

I've also been checking out some french posters, vintage mostly. I never realized that i adore french poster oh so much! I did order 2 french posters via internet. Can't effin wait for those to come.

Local artist, here in my home town jakarta, are awesome too. The locals gives a lot appreciation for art in every aspect and forms. So it's always cool to express yourself here in Jakarta. I forget the names but, you can buy art and design magazines to see how cool indonesians artists and photographers are.

So i thought, well yeah i'd probably quit working on fashion. And try again this cool thing called art.

"with a brush in my hand, the world just gets kinda quiet." Young Ally, the notebook.

comfortable sound

Sajama Cut (from left to right): above: Andre (keyboard), Anes (percussion). below: Dion (guitarist), Marcell (vocalist), Banu (drums), Randy (bass).

"Rin tomosaki would you come out and play with me, would you swallow my cum?" - Idol Semen, Sajama Cut

This Jakarta based indie rock band, Sajama Cut, is one of the English Lyrics band from Indonesia. And probably one of a very few indie band from Indonesia that collaborates with internationals artists (Japan, UK, France, Sweden, Italy, etc).

Cool, poetic, cynical lyrics about life, love and its surroundings are all written by Marcel Thee (vocalist). You can check their lyrics at www.sajamacutlyrics.blogspot.com

Not only the lyrics i love (and like to quote then put it on my twitter btw, haha) their sound made me fall in love. They currently release a new single called paintings/pantings, two words for it: fun and fresh. Listen to that makes me feel like sipping lemonade beside the pool on a sunny sunday with shades and a retro bathing suit. Pretty catchy tunes for Sajama Cut considering their sound before were kinda, umm, idealistic. You can free download paintings/pantings on their facebook. (Search: Sajama Cut)

First time i listen to Sajama Cut, i was like, well this is like meeting a humble stranger who seems familiar. Their music is similar to few indie rock bands, but has this humble sound that is enjoyable and comfortable, not boring and sounds fresh.

My favorites from Sajama Cut are Fin, Haunted Lights and Season Finale. Other songs like Fallen Japanese, It Was Kyoto Where I Died are cool too. You should check those out on www.myspace.com/sajamacut

Okay i do hook up with their guitarist but i really think Sajama Cut rocks.
